Blood group:

  1. The blood group is determined on basis of the antigens present on the plasma membrane of the red blood cells (RBCs).
  2. There are four types of blood groups in the ABO system namely - A, B, AB, and, O.

Transfer of blood:

  1. When an injured or infected person is in the need of blood, the blood is transferred to them from a healthy person after checking the compatibility of the blood of those two persons
  2. This process of transferring blood from a healthy person to the patient from a healthy person is called a blood transfusion.

The mechanism of transferring blood into the body of the patient from a healthy person is called blood transfusion.
