Fill in the blanks with acute, obtuse, right or straight:

When the sum of the measures of two angles is that of a right angle, then each one of them is _______

Open in App
Solution

Define acute angles

A right angle is the one whose measure is 90° and an acute angle is the one whose measure is less than 90°.

So, when two angles are added, to make their resultant sum equal to 90°, possibly only acute angles can be added.

For example: Given, sum as 90°. Let the 2 angles be equal and the measure of each be x°. Now when both are added,

x+x=90°2x=90°x=45°

So, the value of x is 45° which is an acute angle.

Therefore, when the sum of the measures of two angles is that of a right angle, then each one of them is an acute angle.
