The adrenal gland is an endocrine gland containing cortex and medulla. The adrenal cortex is itself divided into three zones: the zona glomerulosa, the zona fasciculata and the zona reticularis which releases mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids and gonadocorticoids respectively. Among which cortisol is one of the glucocorticoid hormones having a hyperglycemic nature.
