i.⇒ Osteon ii.⇒ Osteocytes iii.⇒ Haversian Canals

Bone is a rigid structure with typical composition that is 45% of it has inorganic salts of Calcium and Magnesium, out of which 80 % of Calcium is organised in form of a complex substance called as Hydroxyapatite and 12% as Calcium Carbonate. The next component of the bone is Organic material like Ossein and Collagen proteins which constitutes of 35% and remaining 20% is water. All these components are arranged in a such a way that they form large number of circular or oval system called Haversian System or an Osteon. Each osteon consists of : Haversian canals, Circular Lamellae, Lacunae / (the cavities in the bone) are filled with bone cells called Osteocytes,Volkmann's canal and others get connected to each other obliquely or transversely by canaliculi to make a network which makes it much tougher to withstand the weight of our body and to support the shape. Rest of the gaps in the system are filled up with the salts to make it compact.

Answer: Osteon is the unit of bone made of cells called osteocytes which are connected by Haversian Canals with each other to make a network to form a compact bone.
