Solution

Given rational numbers are 39 and 35.

In order to compare two rational numbers with different denominators, we have to take the LCM of the denominators of the given rational numbers and then convert them into like rational numbers.

Here LCM of 9 and 5 is 45.

Consider 39

To make a denominator 45, multiply both numerator and denominator by 5. We get,

3×59×5=1545.........(1)

Consider 35

To make a denominator 45, multiply both numerator and denominator by 9. We get,

3×95×9=2745...........(2)

Since the denominator is equal in equations (1) and (2). Therefore compare the numerator,

15<45

1545<2745

Hence, 39<35
