Solution

Given rational numbers are -43 and 8-8.

In order to compare two rational numbers with different denominators, we have to take the LCM of the denominators of the given rational numbers and then convert them into like rational numbers.

Here LCM of 3 and 8 is 24.

Consider -43

To make a denominator 24, multiply both numerator and denominator by 8. We get,

-4×83×8=-3224............(1)

Consider 8-8

To make a denominator 24, multiply both numerator and denominator by (-3). We get,

8×(-3)-8×(-3)=-2424.........(2)

Since the denominator is equal in equation (1) and (2). Therefore compare the numerator,

-32<-24

-3224<-2424

Therefore, -43<8-8
