Solution

Given rational numbers are 56 and 84.

In order to compare two rational numbers with different denominators, we have to take the LCM of the denominators of the given rational numbers and then convert them into like rational numbers.

Here LCM of 6 and 4 is 12.

Consider 56

To make a denominator 12, multiply both numerator and denominator by 2. We get,

5×26×2=1012..........(1)

Consider 84

To make a denominator 12, multiply both numerator and denominator by 3. We get,

8×34×3=2412...........(2)

Since the denominator is equal in equation (1) and (2). Therefore compare the numerator,

10<24

1012<2412

Therefore, 56<84
