The correct option is A $\frac{- 1}{3}$
Finding a zero of $p (x)$ , is same as solving the equation
$p (x) = 0$
i.e. $3 x + 1 = 0$
$\Rightarrow 3 x = - 1$
$\Rightarrow x = - \frac{1}{3}$
So, $- \frac{1}{3}$ is a zero of the polynomial $3 x + 1$ .
