The correct option is A $28$ sq. units
Area of figure = Area of $Δ A B D$ + Area of $Δ B D C$
Both are right angles triangle with the common base = 8
$= \frac{1}{2} \times b_{1} \times h_{1} + \frac{1}{2} \times b_{2} \times h_{2}$

$= \frac{1}{2} \times 4 \times 8 + \frac{1}{2} \times 8 \times 3$

$= 16 + 12 = 28$ sq. units
