Solution

Compute the required rational numbers:

A Rational number can be defined as, any number which can be expressed in the form of pq where q≠0.

  • On multiplying the numerator and denominator of 12 by 3, we get, 36and,

on further multiplying the numerator and denominator by 6, we get, 3×66×6=1836.

  • On multiplying the numerator and denominator of 13 by 2, we get, 26and,

on further multiplying the numerator and denominator by 6, we get, 2×66×6=1236.

Therefore, the rational numbers between 12 and 13 are the rational numbers between 1236 and 1836 i.e. 1336, 1436, 1536, 1636 and 1736.

Hence, the five rational numbers between 12 and 13 are 1336, 1436, 1536, 1636 and 1736.
