Solution

Water harvesting:

  1. In our region, rainwater is normally harvested through rooftops which are connected to underground tanks via pipelines.
  2. Rainwater harvesting is quite a simple process or technology used to conserve rainwater by collecting, storing, conveying, and purifying rainwater that runs off from rooftops, parks, roads, open grounds, etc. for later use.
  3. The method of rainwater harvesting involves the collection and storage of rainwater with the help of artificially designed or modified systems that break out natural or man-made catchment areas like- the rooftop, compounds, rock surfaces, hill slopes, and artificially repaired impervious or semi-pervious land surfaces.
  4. Groundwater is collected with the help of borewells and suction pumps whereas water is harvested directly via pipes from the lakes.
  5. The harvested water is then stored in water tankers placed at strategic locations throughout the town.
