The correct option is C (C) Because of the presence of 'had stolen' in the sentence, it is evident that the sentence is in the past perfect tense following the format of had + past participle form of the verb. Part C of the sentence contains the error because 'notice' is in the present tense and does not confer to the past perfect tense of the sentence. It should have been noticed.
Hence option C is the correct answer and options A, B and D are incorrect because the rest of the sentence is grammatically correct. Option E is incorrect because the sentence does have an error as is explained above.
