Solution

The correct option is C 1.76 L
2CH3COONaCH3CH3+2e+2CO2+2Na+

2H2O+2eH2+2OH

2CH3COONa+2H2OCH3CH3+2CO2+H2+2NaOH

Thus 2 moles of electrons will produce 4 moles of gases.

The number of moles of electrons passed are it96500=0.965×360096500=0.036 moles.

The number of moles of gases produced will be 2×0.036=0.072 moles.

The volume occupied by these gases at 25oC and 1 atm will be V=nRTP=0.072×0.0821×2981=1.76 L.
