In angiosperm roots, the vascular bundles are radial and not collateral, i.e. the xylem and phloem patches are situated on different radii. Vascular bundles are collateral in stems of angiosperms. All the other options are applicable to roots: xylem growth is centripetal i.e. the earlier formed xylem or the protoxylem is towards the periphery and the later formed xylem or metaxylem is towards the centre. Cuticle is present in stems and not in roots. The apex of a root is protected by a root cap in all roots to protect it from damage.
