Question

Find t he third vertex of a triangle if two of its vertices are at (-2,4) and (7,-1) are centroid at (3,2).

Open in App
Solution

We have,

Let the point

A(x1,y1)=(2,4)

B(x2,y2)=(7,1)

C(x3,y3)=?

And centroid (x,y)=(3,2)

Now, we know that,

(x,y)=(x1+x2+x33,y1+y2+y33)

(3,2)=(2+7+x33,41+y33)

(3,2)=(5+x33,3+y33)

3=5+x33,2=3+y33

x3=95=4

y3=63=3

Now,

(x3,y3)=(4,3)

Hence, this is the answer.
