Question

Find the 6th term from the end of the AP 17, 14, 11, ..., (−40).

Open in App
Solution

Here, a = 17 and d = (14 - 17) = -3, l = (-40) and n = 6
Now, nth term from the end = [l - (n - 1)d]
6th term from the end = [(-40) - (6 - 1) ⨯ (-3)]
= [-40 + (5 ⨯ 3)] = (-40 + 15) = -25
Hence, the 6th term from the end is -25.
