acceleration due to gravity (g') at a depth 'd' from the Earth's surface is given by :-
$g^{'} g (1 - \frac{d}{R^{E}})$ $R_{E}$ : radius of earth
when $d = \frac{R_{E}}{2}$ (half radius of Earth),
$g^{'} = g (1 - \frac{g}{2})$
taking g= $10 m / s^{2}$ on the surface we get:-
$g^{'} = 5 m / s^{2}$
