Question

Find the acceleration due to gravity on a point which is above half the radius of earth, from surface?[take g = 10m/s2on earth's]

Open in App
Solution

acceleration due to gravity (g') at a depth 'd' from the Earth's surface is given by :-
gg(1dRE) RE : radius of earth
when d=RE2 (half radius of Earth),
g=g(1g2)
taking g=10m/s2 on the surface we get:-
g=5m/s2
