Question

Find the additive inverse of the number

-71

Open in App
Solution

Additive inverse: An additive inverse of a number is defined as the value, which on adding with the original number results in zero value.

Suppose, a is the original number, then its additive inverse will be minus of a i.e., -a, such that;

a+(-a)=aa=0

Here, a=-71, then-a=-(-71)=71, so that,

-71+71=0

Hence, the additive inverse of -71 is +71.
