Question

Find the amount of water displaced by a solid spherical ball of diameter 4.2 cm, when it is completely immersed in water.

Open in App
Solution

Given diameter of sphere d=4.2 cm
r=d2=2.1 cm

Volume = 43πr3=43×3.14×(2.1)3=38.772 cm3

Volume = 38.772 cm3
By Archimedes principle,
Water displaced by the sphere = volume of the sphere
Hence water displaced by spherical ball is 38.772 cm3
