Question

Find the angle between the pair of lines given by
r=3^i+2^j4^k+λ(^i+2^j+2^k) and r=5^i2^j+μ(3^i+2^j+6^k).

Open in App
Solution

r1=3^i+2^j4^k+λ(^i+2^j+2^k) is parallel to (^i+2^j+2^k)
DR's (1,2,2)
r2=5^i2^j+μ(3^i+2^j+6^k) is parallel to (3^i+2^j+6^k)
DR's (3,2,6)
Angle between r1 and r1 is angle between DR's.
cosθ=3×1+2×2+6×212+22+2232+22+62=1921
θ=cos11921
