Question

Find the angle subtended at the centre of a circle by an arc, for the following.
(i) radius of circle = 5.5m, length of arc = 6.05m (π = 227)

Open in App
Solution

Given:
Radius of the circle, r = 5.5 m
Length of the arc, l = 6.05 m
We have to find the angle subtended at the centre of the circle (θ).
Now,
Length of the arc, l = θ360×2πr

6.05 = θ360×2×227×5.5

θ=360×6.05×722×2×5.5θ=63°

Thus, the arc subtends an angle of 63° at the centre.
