Question

Find the angles of inclination of straight lines whose slopes are 3.

Open in App
Solution

We know that if θ is the inclination of a straight line, then tanθ is called the slope (or gradient) of a line. The slope of a line is usually denoted by m.

Here, it is given that the slope of the line is m=3, therefore, the angle of inclination is:

m=tanθ3=tanθtan600=tanθ(tan600=3)θ=600

Hence, the angle of inclination is600.
