To find the area of the given figure, we have to find the number of full, half, more than half, and less than half squares in the give figure.

From the above figure,
Number of full squares(A) = 10
Number of more than half squares(B) = 4
Number of half squares(C) = 3
Number of less than half squares(D) = 2

Area of full square = 1 cm2

Approximate area of more than half squares = 1 cm2

Area of half squares = 12 cm2

Approximate area of less than half squares = 0

Approximate area of the given figure = Number of full squares + Number of more than half squares + 12 × Number of half squares + 0 × Number of less than half squares

Approximate area of the given figure = 10 + 4 + 12 × 3
Approximate area of the given figure = 15.5 cm2
