From the fig. it is clear that $CDEF$ is a trapezium and $ABCF$ is a square.

Area of trapezium $=\frac{a+b}{2}\times$ height

Where $a=ED$ and $b=FC$

Area of figure $ABCDEF=$ Area of $CDEF+$ Area of square $ABCF$

$=\frac{1}{2}\times (7+18)\times 8+(18\times 18)$

$=100+324$

$=424$ ${cm}^2$
