Area of the shaded region = Area of the semi-circle with O as centre and OQ as radius - area of ΔPQR

Since QR is a diameter of the circle,

RPQ=90 [Angle of semi-circle]

QR2=PR2+PQ2=72+242

=49+576

=625=252

QR=25

diameter of the circle = 25cm and radius = 12.5cm

Area of the semi-circle =12×πr2=11×62528

Area of ΔPQR
=12×PR×PQ=84 cm2

Hence area of the shaded region
=11×6252884 cm2

Hence area of the shaded region
=126.64 cm2
