Find the area made by the line 2x+y=4 and the co-ordinate axes.

Given the equation of the line is 2x+y=4 which can be written as
x2+y4=1.
From this equation it is clear that the line has the intercepts 2 and 4 units from the co-ordinate axes.
Then the area formed by the line and the co-ordinate axes is
=12×2×4
=4 sq. units.
