If we take $AC$ as the base of the triangle $ABC$, then $BM$ is the height ( perpendicular distance from a vertex to the base ) of the triangle.

Base, $AC=2r=2\times 3=6$ cm

Height, $BM=2$ cm

Area, $A=\frac{1}{2}\times base\times height$

$A=\frac{1}{2}\times 6\times 2$

$=6c{m}^2$
