Find the area of an isosceles traingle having the base x cm and one side y cm.
In isosceles Δ ABC,
AB= AC= y cm
BC= x cm
∴ Draw AD ⊥ BC which bisects BC at D
∴BD=x2∴AD=√AB2−BD2=√y2−x24
∴ Area = Base×altitude2=12BC×AD
=12×x×√y2−x24=x2√y2−x24cm2
