Area of quadrilateral can be written as ArΔABD + Ar ΔBCD
Ar ΔABD =12×base×height=12×8×5
Ar ΔBCD =12×base×height=12×8×4
Area of quadrilateral = 12×8×5+12×8×4

Area of quadrilateral = 20+16
=36 sq. units
