Radius = r = $\frac{diameter}{2}$ = $\frac{14}{2}$ = 7 cm

Area of shaded region
= Area of square ABCD - Area of circle
= $sid{e}^2$ - $\pi r^2$
= ${14}^2$ - $(\frac{22}{7}\times 7^2)$
= 196 - (22$\times$7)
= 196 - 154
= 42 $c{m}^2$
