Solution

The correct option is C 231 cm2
R = radius of larger semicircle
= AC2 = 282 = 7 cm

r = radius of smaller semicircle
= BC2 = 142 = 14 cm

(Since radius of a circle = diameter2)

Area of shaded region =
Area of semicircle with diameter AC - Area of semicircle with diameter BC

Area of a semicircle = 12×π (radius)2

Area of semicircle having diameter BC = 12×π×r2 = 12×227×72 = 77 cm2

Area of semicircle having diameter AC = 12×π×R2 = 12×227×142
= 11×28 = 308 cm2

Area of shaded region = 308 - 77 = 231 cm2
