Question

Find the area of the 1.5 m wide pathway (green) if length is twice the breadth. Breadth is equal to 6 m..

Open in App
Solution

Breadth of the rectangle = EH = FG = 6 m

Length of rectangle = AB = CD = 12 m

Area of the pathway ABCD =12 m×1.5 m=18 m2

Area of the pathway EFGH =6 m×1.5 m=9 m2

Area (PQRS) =1.5 m×1.5 m=2.25 m2 (This area is taken twice)

Total area of pathway = Area (ABCD) + Area (EFGH) - Area (PQRS)

=(18+92.25) m2=24.75 m2
