Let divide the figure into square and rectangle

So, we can see the three bigger rectangles with dimensions 4cmx1cm

So, the area of three bigger rectangle=3xareaofrectangle=3xlengthxbreadth=3x(4cmx1cm)=12cm2

and we can see the two smaller rectangles with dimensions 2cmx1cm

So, the area of the two smaller rectangle=2xareaofrectangle=2x2cmx1cm=4cm2

So the required area of the rectangle=12cm2+4cm2=16cm2
