Number of complete grids occupied = 7
Number of more than half squares occupied = 6
Number of exactly half squares occupied = 4
Number of less than half squares occupied = 7

$∴ Area = 7 \times 1 + 6 \times 1 + 4 \times \frac{1}{2} + 7 \times 0$
