Find the area of the major segment APB of a circle of radius 35 cm and AOB = 90 , as shown in the given figure.

Radius of circle = 35 cm
Area of major segment = Area of right angled triangle +(270/360)Area of circle

Area of major segment = area of triangle + 34× area of circle =12×height×base+34×π×r2=12×r×r+34×π×r2=(2+3π4)r2

putting r=35 cm and π=227 , we get

Area of major segment = 3500 cm²
