Area of the shaded portion $=$ Area of the square $–$ Area of the circle

Area of the square $={\text{side}}^2=7^2=49c{m}^2$ ... (i)

Radius of the circle $=\frac{7}{2}cm$

$\Rightarrow$ Area of the circle $=\pi \times \frac{7}{2}\times \frac{7}{2}$

$=\frac{22}{7}\times \frac{49}{4}=\frac{77}{2}c{m}^2$ ... (ii)

$\therefore$ Area of the shaded portion $=49-\frac{77}{2}=10.5c{m}^2$
