According to the given figure,
Number of Fully-filled squares = 3
Number of Half-filled squares = 3

[0.5 mark]

∴ Area covered by full squares = 3 × 1 = 3 sq units
and Area covered by half-filled squares = 3 × 12
= 32 sq units

Hence, the total area of the shape = Area covered by full squares + Area covered by half-filled squares =3sqcm+32sqcm=412squnits.
