Solution

Find the area of trapezium ABCD where AB is parallel
to DC. AB=77cm BC=28cm CD=60cm DA=26cm
Draw a line BC parallel to AD and draw a
perpendicular BE on CD. It can be observed
that ABCD is a parallelogram
BC=AD=28cm
CD=AB=60cm
CF=77cmCD
=7760=17cm.
For BCF
Perimeter of a triangle 25(28+26+17)
S=712=35.5
By Heron's formula S(Sa)(Sb)(Sc)
BCF=35.5(35.528)(35.526)(35.517)
=216.3cm2
area of BCF=12×BE×CF
216.3cm2=12×BE×17
BE=432.6/17=25.4cm
Area of ABCD=BE×CD=25.4×60
=1524cm2
Area of field =216.3+1524
=1740.3cm2
