Solution

Dimensions of a rectangular cistern are 11.2 m×6 m×5.8 m.

The volume of the rectangular cistern (Cubiodal in shape) =length(l)×breadth(b)×height(h)

=11.2×6×5.8=389.76 m3=389.76×1000=389760 litres [1 m3=1000 litres]
Area of the iron sheet required to make this cistern = Total surface area of the cistern

=2(lb+bh+lh)

=2(11.2×6+6×5.8+11.2×5.8)=2(67.2+34.8+64.96)=333.92 m2
