Given the A.P. are

i) $3, 1, - 1, - 3, . . . . . .$
ii) $- 5, - 1, 3, 7, . . . . .$ .

Common difference is the difference between the consecutive term of the A.P.

Now for the first A.P. the common difference is $1 - 3 = - 2$ .

And for the second A.P. the common difference is $- 1 - (- 5) = - 1 + 5 = 4$ .
