The given equation is y2=8x .......(1)
which is same as y2=4ax, so (1) represents standard parabola,and its axis lies along the x−axis.Hence x−axis itself is the axis of the given parabola.
Also,4a=8⇒a=84=2
∴ focus is (a,0)=(2,0) and the equation of the directrix is x+a=0
