Question

Find the coordinates of the point on x-axis which is equidistant from the points (-2, 5) and (2, -3).

Open in App
Solution

On x axis, the y coordinate is 0

So, let us assume the point to be (x,0)

Distance from (-2,5) = Distance from (2,-3)

(x+2)2+25=(x2)2+9

16= -8x

x = -2

So, the point required is (-2,0)
