Question

Find the current flowing across three resistors 3Ω,5Ω and 2Ω connected in parallel to a 15V supply. Also find the effective resistance and total current drawn from the supply.

Open in App
Solution

Given data:
R1=3Ω,R2=5Ω,R3=2Ω; supply voltage V=15 volt.
Solution:
Effective resistance of parallel combination.
1RP=1R1+1R2+1R3=13+15+12
Rp=0.9677Ω
Current through R1,I1=VR1=153=5A
Current through R2,I2=VR2=155=3A
Current through R3,I3=VR3=152=7.5A
Total current I=VRP=150.9677
=
15.5A
