Question

Find the diameter of a circle if its area is 49π cm2.
cm

Open in App
Solution

Given, the area of the circle is 49π cm2.

The area of the circle is given by A=πr2, where r is the radius of the circle.
πr2=49π
Divide both sides by π
πr2π=49ππ
r2=49
Taking square root both sides
r2=49
r=±7×7
r=±7
r=7 cm
(The radius of a circle cannot be negative
r=7 is rejected)

We know that, the diameter of the circle(d) is twice its radius(r).
d=2×r
=2×7 cm
=14 cm

Hence, the diameter of the given circle is 14 cm.
