Question

Find the differential equation representing the family of curves ν=Ar+B, where A and B are arbitary constants.

Open in App
Solution

Given family of curves is v=Ar+B.
Differentiating once, we get:
dvdr=Ar2
r2dvdr=A
Differentiating once more, we get:
d2vdr2=2Ar3
r2d2vdr2+2rdvdr=0.
This is the required differential equation representing the given family of curves.
