Calculation : 0.5 Mark

Given equation is,

$x^{2} + 5 x - 3 = 0$

$\Rightarrow a = 1, b = 5, c = - 3$

$D = b^{2} - 4 a c$

$\Rightarrow D = (5)^{2} - 4 (1) (- 3)$

$\Rightarrow D = 25 + 12 = 37$
