The correct option is C 2 m
By condition of wedge contraint, the displacment along normal to the common interface is same.


Let δx and δy be the displacement of sphere in the horizontal and vertical direction respectively.
From the FBD we have,
δycosθ=δxcos(90θ)=δxsinθ
δy=δxtanθ
Since θ=45
δy=δx
Now, displacement travelled by cube in 1 second,
S=ut+12at2
S=0+12(2)(1)2
=1 m
Net displacement =δ2x+δ2y
=(1)2+(1)2
=2 m
