$d=\sqrt{(a-c{)}^2+(b-d{)}^2}$

Now from question distance between $(a,0)$ & $(0,6)$ is

$d=\sqrt{(a-0{)}^2+(0-6{)}^2}$

$\Rightarrow d=\sqrt{a^2+6^2}$
