Solution

The correct option is D (,2)(12,)
Given f(x)=12x2+5x+2

f(x)=12x2+4x+x+2

=12x(x+2)+1(x+2)

=1(2x+1)(x+2)

Domain is the set of possible x values for which f(x) is defined.

Hence for f(x) to be defined, either 2x+1>0 and x+2>0
or 2x+1<0 and x+2<0.

In the first case, 2x+1>0x>12 and x+2>0x>2.
Hence x>12 ----(1)

In the second case, 2x+1<0x<12 and x+2<0x<2
Hence x<2 ----(2)

From (1) and (2), domain of f(x) is (,2)(12,)
