Find the equation of the hyperbola whose foci are (± 5, 0), the transverse axis is of length 8.

Given length of transverse axis is 8=2aa=4
Also foci are (±5,0), so center of the ellipse is the mid point of foci, which is (0,0)
Also ae=54e=554
Now using b2=a2(e21)=16(25161)=9

Hence the required hyperbola is, x2a2y2b2=1
x216y29=1
